Meet the founders Ed & Brenda
Ed and Brenda are the owners and co-founders of Dwell Real Estate, bringing a rare depth of experience, perspective, and heart to every client relationship.
Ed is a 6th-generation Sacramentan who began his real estate career in 1985. Over nearly four decades, his dedication to meeting people where they are—both professionally and personally—has led to helping more than 1,800 families - and a reputation as a trusted advisor to buyers, sellers, and investors throughout the Sacramento region.
Brenda brings a complementary and equally powerful background to Dwell. She is a marketing specialist with a career that began in finance in New York City. She went on to become a real estate broker in NYC before returning to her native California. Her experience in finance and marketing shapes how Dwell positions, presents, and promotes homes—ensuring each property is marketed strategically, thoughtfully, and with a deep understanding of both numbers and narrative.
In addition to representing clients, Brenda and Ed are experienced real estate investors, having held ownership in 185 residential units while continuing to grow the brokerage. This breadth of experience allows Dwell to guide clients with a practical, well-rounded understanding of real estate—from personal homes to long-term strategy.
Life Beyond Real Estate
Outside of work, you’ll often find Ed and Brenda playing pickleball, traveling, or spending time at their second home in New York City.
Closer to home, Ed enjoys playing soccer and cheering on his grandson, Jax, at tennis matches at Sutter Lawn—just one more way the Gatejen family remains deeply connected to the place they call home.
